Poison Prevention
The Virginia Poison Center has printed and audiovisual materials that address a variety of poisoning topics. We are pleased to make modest quantities of our materials available to groups and individuals free of charge. You can now order many of our materials through this web site.
Our most popular items are colorful stickers and magnets that carry the Poison Help logo and display the toll-free emergency phone number.
Peel and stick labels are intended to be placed on or near the telephone, so that the poison center's emergency phone numbers are quickly available if needed. You can request up to 500 stickers free of charge by using our material
order form. If you need larger quantities, please send us a completed copy of the bulk order form .
Magnets are another way to keep the poison center's emergency phone number close at hand, perhaps on a file cabinet or refrigerator. You can request up to 250 magnets free of charge by using our material
order form. To order larger quantities, please send us a completed copy of the bulk order form .
Our pamphlets address
several specific types of poisons. These include poisonous
plants, snakebite, and carbon monoxide. Another pamphlet in
the series gives general poison prevention tips, and describes
basic first aid as well as the role of the poison center. You
can request up to 30 pamphlets free of charge by using our
material order form. Larger quantities may be ordered by sending
us a completed bulk order form .
Educational videotapes are an excellent way to introduce poison prevention concepts and spark discussion in small groups. The Video Order Form contains a brief description of each of our videotapes, which you can borrow for three weeks with a fully refundable security deposit. Click
here to see the downloadable video order form .
Our fact sheets each focus on particular
poison topics. Many of these topics are of seasonal interest;
for example, information on caterpillar stings will be found
in the summer newsletter, and carbon monoxide is discussed
in the winter newsletter. All these documents are in PDF format,
so you can download them using Adobe Acrobat and print as many
copies as needed. Click here to see our fact
sheet list.
